PARTS and FUNCTIONS
Skeletal System (Click to enlarge.)
The parts of the skeletal system are bones, joints, and ligaments. Its function is to support the body and protect internal organs.
Bones: Provide structure and protect internal organs
Joints: Connect bones and allow movement
I think our spine is the most important bone in the body because without it our spinal cord would be vulnerable.
WORKS with OTHER SYSTEMS
Human Skull
The skeletal system works with other body systems.
It works with the muscular system because bones protect smooth muscles.
It works with the circulatory system because bones produce blood cells.
It works with the nervous system because the skull protects the brain.
Fun facts:
Bone is six times stronger than steel if both are the same weight.
The smallest bone in the body is the size of a grain of rice.
Out of 206 bones in our body, 52 are in our feet.
