The parts of the circulatory system are the heart, arteries, veins, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma.
Heart: Pumps blood.
Arteries: Carry blood from the heart to the body.
Veins: Bring blood back to the heart.
Red blood cells: Carry hemoglobin to provide oxygen to needy tissue.
White blood cells:Fight infection and provide antibodies.
Platelets: Clot blood when you get cut.
Plasma: Carries nutrients, hormones, and proteins throughout the body.
Fun Story: I am just a blood cell. All I ever do is move through veins and then get pumped through arteries to the rest of the body. Then the cycle repeats. It repeats over and over again. It never stops. This has to be the most boring thing that anyone has ever done.
WORKS with OTHER SYSTEMS
Circulatory System (Click to enlarge.)
The circulatory system works with other body systems.
It transports hormones for the endocrine system.
It provides blood to muscles.
It provides blood to lungs.
It brings oxygen and nutrients to cells.
Fun Facts:
The sound of a heartbeat is created by the valves in the heart opening and closing.
About 8 million blood cells die in the human body every second, and the same number are born each second.
Red blood cells make approximately 250,000 round trips of the body before returning to the bone marrow, where they were born, to die.
