The parts of the digestive system are the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. This system's function is to break down food into nutrients. Each part's function is:
Esophagus: Pushes food into stomach
Stomach: Place were food is digested
Small intestine: Absorbs nutrients from food and drink
Large intestine: Absorbs water from waste creating stool
How food travels through the digestive system: Food goes in the mouth. Then it goes down the esophagus and into the stomach. Then digestion continues in the intestines and solid waste leaves the body through the anus.
